Electric stove, cooktop, and oven hookup

An electric stove, cooktop, oven, and water heater all draw noticeably more current than an ordinary outlet, which is why they're connected on a dedicated circuit with a breaker sized to match. The electrician connects the appliance once the circuit and connection point are ready, or advises on what needs finishing first.

What's included

  • Connecting an electric stove to a ready circuit
  • Connecting a cooktop
  • Connecting a built-in oven
  • Connecting the electrical side of a water heater
  • Checking the breaker and cable cross-section match the appliance load
  • Testing the appliance after connection

When you need this

  • A new electric stove, cooktop, oven, or water heater has been bought
  • An appliance is being replaced but the delivery doesn't include hookup
  • A dedicated circuit with the right breaker is needed for a power-hungry appliance
  • The connection point has moved after a kitchen layout change
  • Old wiring raises doubts — best to check the circuit before connecting new appliances

How the work is done

Checking the ready circuit and connection point
Assessing whether the cable size and breaker match the appliance load
Connecting the appliance per its wiring diagram
Testing the appliance under load

Pricing

ServicePrice
Electric stove hookup, circuit already preparedfrom 7,000 KZT
Cooktop hookup, materials not includedfrom 8,000 KZT
Oven hookup, materials not includedfrom 7,000 KZT
Water heater hookup, electrical sidefrom 7,000 KZT
Breaker install, no panel reworkfrom 2,500 KZT
Grounded outlet install, circuit readyfrom 3,000 KZT

These prices assume the circuit is already in place. If a new circuit or panel rework is needed, that's costed separately — cable runs from 1,500 KZT per metre, chasing from 3,000 KZT per metre. Materials not listed here are billed separately.

Power-hungry kitchen appliances — an electric stove, cooktop, oven — put a noticeable load on a circuit, so they're wired with their own correctly sized cable and their own breaker in the panel. Connecting through an ordinary household outlet or a power strip isn't suitable: the contacts aren't rated for that current and tend to overheat over time.

Before connecting, the electrician checks whether the existing circuit matches the load of the specific appliance. If the cable size or breaker rating don't match what's needed, it's better to fix that right away rather than after connecting — safer for both the appliance and the wiring.

Grounding matters especially for a water heater: connecting one without it isn't recommended, particularly in damp rooms like a bathroom or kitchen.

Completed work carries a warranty of up to 3 years.

Frequently asked questions

How much does connecting an electric stove cost?

From 7,000 KZT if the circuit for the stove is already prepared — meaning the right-size cable is run and an outlet or terminal block is in place. If there's no circuit yet, running one is added, and possibly chasing too.

Do a cooktop and oven need their own outlet or breaker?

Yes, a cooktop and oven usually need a dedicated circuit with a suitably rated breaker — connecting them through a shared outlet or extension cord isn't suitable for this kind of appliance.

Can a water heater be connected without rewiring?

Connecting the electrical side of a water heater is from 7,000 KZT, and if the existing circuit and grounded outlet already match the heater's load, no rewiring is needed. If the wiring is old or ungrounded, the electrician flags that before connecting.

What if there's no circuit for the appliance yet?

The electrician runs a new circuit from the panel to the connection point — cable runs from 1,500 KZT per metre surface-mounted or from 2,000 KZT per metre in conduit, with chasing from 3,000 KZT per metre if needed. This is costed separately from connecting the appliance itself.

Do you connect appliances of any brand?

The hookup is done based on the electrical side — power draw, connection type — regardless of manufacturer, so any brand is fine.
